I got the factory screws and the press-in riv-nuts for attaching the sport mirrors to the doors on my 70 Mach the other day...This may sound like a dumb question... but how do you attach the riv-nuts? Do they go in from the TOP of the door under the mirror, OR underneath the sheet metal INSIDE of the door in line with the mirror screw holes??? Anyone have an idea? I really feel stupid asking this question!!! Thanks, Chris

Don't feel stupid. I have them on my car and I have no clue how they are attached other than the screws (and that's just because I can see them).

My '69 Cyclone also had those. They came (fell) out through the outside. So I would guess you put them in from the outside. I've never seen new ones. I would guess that the scew would spread the insert out a little when it goes in making the insert fit tightly in the door. If the holes are too big, you could move the mirrors on both doors 3/8" either way and I don't think anybody would know.

Kind of late on this thread, but here is the proper way to install the inserts. It is expensive, but I bet most body shops around have one of these and would do it for a small fee.http://www.eastwoodco.com/itemdy01.asp?Dep_Key1=ShoToo&T1=28083&I1.x=83&I1.y=78 ------------------ Ronnie 69 mach1 351W-4V engineless at the time! 70 Torino GT 351C-4v with a "shaker" Mustangs and More Member #23

RonnieT...Thanks for the post! I'm going to try IReeders suggestion first...if that doesn't work I think I can dig up an old friend of mine who did body work...he MAY just have that tool! ...Christine
