Hi Guys I suspect that my speedo is incorrect, although I haven't done a thorough check yet. I was just wondering if there is a way to adjust the speedo?------------------ 66 coupe 289 C4 auto "someone who knows how will always have a job working for someone who knows why" http://webpages.charter.net/adragon8u/mystang

Did you change your tire size or your rear end gears ? If you did this will change your speedo, if not then it could be your speedo cable needs changing or it has come loose at either end. Could also be your speedo gear in your tranny is pooched. If you changed tire size or gears you will have to change the speedo gear in the tranny to compensate for the changes you made.JOHN ------------------ 65 2+2 FASTBACK 87 TAURUS WAGON 98 F150 XLT TRITON V8 4.6, 4 WHEEL DRIVE Member:Vancouver Island Mustang Association M&M #1710 MyPhotoPage MY TRUCK

the car originally had a 6 in it and someone dropped in a 289 with a c4 auto. but it still has the 6"? rearend. could that be a factor?------------------ 66 coupe 289 C4 auto "someone who knows how will always have a job working for someone who knows why" http://webpages.charter.net/adragon8u/mystang

I don`t think it makes any difference if the rear end is for a 6 or 8, but the C4 tranny that was installed may not have the proper speedo gear in it for the rear end you have in the car. The gear ratio is what will determine which speedo gear you need and how accurate your speedo is. If you have 3.00:1 6cyl gears but your C4 tranny came out of a car with a 2.79:1 8 cyl rear or a 3.25:1 8 cyl rear your speedo will not read accurately. If I am wrong on this somebody will set the record straight for you, but I think I have it correct.JOHN ------------------ 65 2+2 FASTBACK 87 TAURUS WAGON 98 F150 XLT TRITON V8 4.6, 4 WHEEL DRIVE Member:Vancouver Island Mustang Association M&M #1710 MyPhotoPage MY TRUCK
