Does anyone know if I can get an electric choke conversion kit for the Autolite carbs? If so, briefly what is involved in the conversion? This will be for a 1966 with a MT/4100, but I assumbe it would carry over to automatics and the 2bbl as well. Thanks, Daniel

It is an easy conversion. Check the junkyards for an electric choke cap. If you can't find one there, a cap for a Holley will fit. Put it one like you would the old type. Run a wire to the stator terminal on the alternator. This has 7 volts while running. The Holley cap is supposed to run on 12v but it works fine on the lower voltage. You may have to tinker with how far it is closed when cold but is easy to do.

Many factory 2100 Motorcraft carbs came from the factory with electric chokes. I don`t know when they started, but my 78 Fairmonts 302 2v was electric.------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA Stocker 302 5speed. soon to be under the index! 59 Meteor (Canadian Ford) 2 dr sedan 332, auto 74 F350 ramp truck 390 4spd
