My '70 needs a new passenger fender and 1/4 panel. Any suggestions on where to get these? The other guys insurance is paying, and I don't want crap put on.

There is only one set of reproduction tooling in service for the 1970 fenders, so it doesn't matter where you get them from. It's all the same part. Honestly, the repro '70 fenders are just so-so. Worth the money for what you get, a good value, but an original fender is superior. Finding an original Ford fender is the problem though. An N.O.S. one would cost around $500 bucks if you found it, and that's a big IF. And there's always used, but again, it's a treasure hunt. For 1/4's, realize that there is nothing on the planet in the way of a full factory 1/4 for a '70. There are reproduction full-face 1/4 repair panels available. Two toolings are in service, one made in Canada, the other Taiwanese. Stick with the Taiwanese on this particular part, it's a good piece with crisp detail and good fit. The Canadian 1/4 is junk. Again, order from whomever is most convenient to you, and just make sure the panel is of Taiwan origin (black EDP coated, whereas the Canadian panels are bare metal), and you can't go wrong.

Let me add that $500 for a fender is not unreasonable. I bought Ford Service Sheet Metal for my '65 a couple years ago and each piece was $450, triple the repro price. Differences. Ford Service Sheet Metal is good quality but it wasn't a perfect fit either. There were some minor differences dimensionally but they installed and look very good. The major fit problem I had was with the headlight doors. Repro pieces look good at first glance but have more waves in them than Ford. If I was using repro sheet metal then I'd paint the car a light color.

Are these parts available for a '70 though? As far as rear 1/4's I have never seen a full 1/4 for sale. (other then cut off another car.)

I have seen '70 sheet metal in Hemmings Motor News, someone is making it. I think the outfit is here in the USA.

Practically everybody sells the Taiwanese panels. Just pick the Mustang parts supplier of your choice/liking, and they'll have 'em.
