I started torquing my harmonic balancer to 85 ft. lbs. and the crankshaft started turning before I could finish. Ah ha, I thought, pop it into gear! But the crankshaft still turns. I've ordered an engine rebuilding manual, but until it arrives, I am a moron! Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks a lot, Simon

i had that same problem with mine. my balancer is the one with four bolts for the pulley. so i stuck two bolts accross (diagonally) from eachother and put a breaker bar between them (any other strong bar or something of that sort will work) and pushed the opposite way of the torqe wrench to keep it in place while i tightened the bolt. you can do it yourself but it is probably easier with two people.
