Thought I would ask what are some of the collector car insurance companies that the board members use. It's not a Mustang, but my father-in-law has a 1930 Model A street rod. It's an original all steel body on an aftermarket chassis with a late model drivetrain. It's currently insured with his regular insurance company with a stated value of $60K. Not cheap to do it that way. The car gets driven 2-3K miles per year to car shows and the like. What are some good companies to deal with? He is currently looking at Grundy Worldwide. Anyone have any claims or other experience with them? Thanks, David Cole [This message has been edited by Dave_C (edited 06-10-2003).]

I have been using Grundy Worldwide with no problems whatsoever. They are very professional when I talk with them. Thankfully I have had no claims. So I can't speak about that part. I certainly don't have a 60K car but I have found the premiums in my situation to very reasonable with no mileage limits. They rushed through the proper information when I picked up my car. All I can really say is no problems.

Check out Hagertys Classic Auto Insurance. Great rates and you choose the amount of coverage that you want. You can even do it all on line. www.hagertys.com We pay $139.00 a year for full coverage with a stated value of $17K. Never had to file a claim, but they are great from what several friends have said. Dave & Terri ------------------ '65 Mustang Fastback '02 Explorer XLT I don't suffer from insanity. Hagerty was about $10 less than Grundy until they got to the part about having a 17 y/o daughter and a 16 y/o son. Then it was no can do... PERIOD. No endorsements, no waivers, no nothin. Grundy didn't ask.------------------ -Paul 70 Mach1 351C 79 Ranchero GT 97 Expedition XLT 5.4 00 SVT f150 Lightning 4149 of 4966 Born on: 06/26/2000 'life's tough... it's tougher if you're stupid.'

ALSO while I'm bitching on colector car ins 2 places turned me down because my daily driver was too old they require you to have a "new car" less than 10-25 wears old. My new car is a 1975 F100 my daily driver is a 1968 Falcon BUT what the HELL does that have to do with colector carINS???

AAA has pretty decent collector car insurance if you can park your car inside a locked garage. It also insures any spare parts you may have against theft or damage.
