I am in the middle of doing a Granada disc swap and have run into a problem that has me stumped. When I connect the tie rods to the spindle the discs are severly turned in. By severe, I mean I need to shorten up the tie rod assembly by 1" or more to get the general apearance of being straight. I have both inner and outer end turned in all the way. I have replaced the outer with the Granada tie rod. Does anyone have any ideas? All I can think of is that the connecting sleeves are too long. To further complicate matters, the conversion also included a 6-8 cyl swap of front end parts. I have replaced pitman, idler, drag link (manual), tie rod ends inner and outer. Sorry this is so long but I am really frustrated and want to give as much info as possible. Thanks for all your help in advance, Phil

I did the same swap a few months ago on my 66 and I had to screw the sleeves in almost all the way two.I know when I did the swap MustangSteves how to do it page said to mark the tie rod ends when you replace with new ones so you can get them about the same but it didn`t work out that way. I had the same problem as you. I just screwed them in till the wheels looked straight had it aligned and they work great.Tony------------------ http://ourworld.cs.com/blagintony/myhomepage/auto.html 86-302 HO bored .030 over crank .010 under, B-303 cam ,harland sharp roller rockers, performer rpm intake, 625 carter 66-289 heads, ported with 160-194 valves, 3 angle valve job, 4 speed toploader, granada disc brakes, 85 duraspark ignition, pony interior, the who,the doors, and ccr full blast on the stereo

Thanks for your help Tony. I thought I had read every possible article written on this conversion and this was never mentioned. That is why I am so stumped. I will try to get it as close as I can or see if I can get some smaller adjusting sleeves. Thanks, Phil

Only use Granada outer tie rods! Granada sleeves are too long. Use Musting inner tie rods and sleeves.

I did the conversion and at the same time switched to a manual drag link problem i had was the outer tie rods. I ended up using a set from a 70 mustang i believe. It alighned perfect and had plenty of adjustemnt left in either direction. How does it feel when you turn it lock to lock? [This message has been edited by Dynoram (edited 06-14-2003).]
