When my car is cold the speedometer hops or jumps up and down in the general area of the speed at which I am going. As the car warms up the bouncing gets less and less and it begins to more accurately read my speed until I cannot notice a bounce anymore. Has anyone had this happen to them. Could it be a bad speedo gear? Low tranny fluid? (as the transmission has been leaking and not refilled)
Not a real problem, I am just curious as to what could be causing this.

Paul

Try to unhook the cable from the back of the speedo and spray some lubricant into the cable until you see it come out the other end.Motorcycle cable lube works real well.

it sounds like the cable if fraying inside ready to break..You can lube it like stated above but its only going to be a bandaid fix..Bruce

Mine was jumpy once after I had removed the dash and reinstalled it. I had forced the cable into a kink. check behind the dash and make sure the cable has an easy route and is screwed into the back of the speedometer tightly - that is if you have moved the dash recently.
