driving to augusta today(went about 20 miles and noticed smoke coming out of the back. pulled over and looked underneath and there is transmission fluid all over the pan and the bell housing. but when i check my fluid level, its normal full, but its still looks like its leaking. drove back to the house and checked the level and its still good.smoke is coming from fluid hitting the exhaust. anyone have any clues, or suggestions. just need to know where to begin and troubleshoot before i take it to a shop. thanks in advance

I would look at the oil cooler lines first. There should be two hard metal lines that go up towards the raidiator. One of them may have rubbed through and is now spraying a fine mist underneath the car.

Your transmission could have been overfilled. If overfilled the fluid will foam and blow out of the vent on top, then it goes everywhere.

it is overfilled, by the guy that put the trannie in.i got a little siphoned out a while ago(a month ago) and i did drive it a little harder than usual today, i gues that would make it foam. and i will check my oil cooler lines tomorrow morning. can i get trannie lines from a parts store? thanks for the info, a mechanic i talked to said " yup, son could be the torque converter, have to take it apart, know what i mean" i think what he meant was seeing dollar signs, this aod only has 62,000 mi on it

I know my tranny (C4) did that awhile back whenever I was driving "longer" distances on the freeway pulling higher rpms (4K) constant. I would just slow and let it burn off.
