My 67 has a 302 2bbl and a C4(I think) of unknown vintage, ever since I got it it has shifted really early. It goes into second almost as soon as I start moving and shifts into drive at about 10mph. So the other morning I disconnect the vaccuum modulator(??) and plugged the line to the manifold and lo and behold the Transmisson shifted right on the marks indicated on the speedo! That got me to thinkin Is the vaccuum line supposed to connect to the manifold or somewhere on the carb? Thanks in advanve, you people are the best! Robert

The transmission modulator, should have an adjustment screw in the middle of the vacuum connection. Tighten the screw for a firmer-later shift. A longer rod, in front of the modulator may be necessary... The vacuum line goes to manifold vacuum...a constant vacuum source.

Robert, Replace your vaccum modulator. It's easy enough to do and should be good to go. Also, the vaccum line should connect to the manifold or to the carb spacer. You should have about 9+ on your vaccum pressure.Dave & Terri ------------------ '65 Mustang Fastback '02 Explorer XLT I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it!
