I own a '73 coupe into which I have stuffed a 429. The car came with front disks but I would like to upgrade to bigger ones. At least go to two piston calipers. What do you suggest? Are there production Ford brakes from another car line, maybe a station wagon, which will fill the bill?

No, you are looking at aftermarket then, like Baer or Wilwood.

Look into Wilwoods. I've been looking into them for my 66. The kit they offer is a heavy duty kit for cars over 2800 pounds, it uses a 11.75" rotor and a 4 piston fordged aluminum caliper.

While they don't offer a kit for 72's, only for early Mustangs. The only difference is wheel bering size. I emailed www.hotrodusa.com because I'm going to replace my stock 66 spindles with stronger 72 spindles. They will substitute the bearings to make it work on the 72 spindles that I have for an additional $25.00. The kit also includes an adjustable proportioning valve. Total cost for me and you will be $635.00! that includes free shipping!!!

Down side to this kit is that it widens front track by 1" in the front. Check to see if you'll have problems with this. In my case, on my 66, I'll need to go with a 4.25" back spacing to run a 15 X 7 rim. You'll also save costs on not replacing tie rod ends or front end alignment, such as in the case of the popular Granada swap.
