ok. wired my cd player into the 3-hole hookup for the old radio with a bullet clip.wired a ground to the chassis(made sure it was a clean ground)turn the key on and the cd player plays and tuner plays real good, when i start the car it will play for 30 seconds then cut off. fuse in player(10 amp) is not burnt either. now on my pioneer in my jeep the radio has 2 grounds. do all cd players have 2 grounds? and i have wire this 3 different ways. 1. straight to the battery 2. straight to the fuse panel. 3. to the car radio hook up. anyone have any suggestions? would like to move on to the next project on my coupe or im going to have to spend the afternoon in a fabric store with my wife. and why do we always spend 3 hours in a fabric store but we only spend fifteen minutes in a parts store or salvage yard. i dont get that logic. anyway thanks in advance for any response.

you said you plugged into the 3 plug connector that was the old radio. Did you make sure you were on the radio power side and not the light power for the old radio lights. I hooked my tach up tot he radio power for he time being and found my tach went off when the light were turned on. I switched the wiring to one of the other plugs and it worked fine just a thought------------------ 68 mustang coupe(california special)not real though but looks it(will be nice) 351w/c4 My 68 Coupe [url=http://mustangsamdmore.50megs.com/ewokeric.html]

My sony player only needed one ground. Seems odd that it would switch off after 30 seconds. is it consistantly 30 seconds? I would look for a loose conection somewhere or take the unit back and try another.make sure that the other wires are not hanging loose and grounding themselves. Otherwise I would blame the head unit itself. you should be able to test it out of the car with the battery (just to see if it stays on for more than 30 seconds) ------------------ '68 coupe 289 C code 66 heads, edel 600cfm carb, performer intake, dual exhaust

thats the weird thing about this problem, with the car not running it plays perfect. but once the car is started and running it shuts off after 30 seconds +/-

Is there still voltage on the wire you have the player plugged to after 30 seconds? What is the voltage when the motor is running? Your voltage regulator output could be too high and this sends too much voltage to the player and it shuts down because of excess voltage.Tracy
