Now that the brakes on the 67 are working I'm looking for a rearend. The current one is the original from when it was equipped with a straight 6 and 3 on the tree tiny with 3.20 gears and noisy. It now has a 302 2bbl and a C4 (I think). I'm looking for a bolt-in swap with 3.00 or 2.79 gears, I'm not looking for super beefy it's not a racer just a daily driver. What cars came with with those specs and where in Washington state can I find a wrecking yard that has something like that? Please don't say Wild West Mustang Ranch, every time I go in there the guys are jerks.

TIA,
Robert

Given that you're happy with freeway gear at the back, I would think you'd have no trouble finding an original Mustang rear. Since most folks change for a higher gear ratio, there are a lot lying around, I believe - like three in my yard that I can't give away.

I have the complete 8" rear from my 67, 2.79 gears, drum to drum, would bolt right in, probably cost more to ship from Ga. to you than it's worth, not to mention crating it up. Too bad you don't live closer.

Hey Robert,

I have a '67-'68 8" rearend housing only to start you off if you want. It's been cleaned and painted black. Make me an offer.

Unfortunately, I'm not along as far as I wanted to be on my 65 project or you could have the 3:00 8 inch out of my mustang. I'm sure there's got to be a ton of stuff available in the Seattle/Kent/Auburn area.

ROBERT,

I will be dropping in my 3.25:1`s in my car in the next month or so and pulling out the 2.79:1`s, they are brand new with approximately 1200 miles on them. They are NOS ring and pinion, the whole 3rd member ( chunk ) is new and is an 8 inch. If you have any interest in it let me know and we can work out a fair price. This would be a good unit as all you would need to do is just drop it in and go.
