i spotted some rust in there.. seems too difficult to sand it.. how should i get rid of the rust? also, whats good for removing old weatherstripping adhesive. i was thinking just GoopOff, or Goof-off, but wanted to double check.

Take your trunk lid off the car and bead-blast the rust. Don,t know what to use for the weatherstripping adhesive, but if you call a windshield replacement shop I am sure they will steer you in the right direction. JOHN

To remove the adhesive I used elbow grease and kerosene. Apply a liberal amount of kerosene to a rag and blot it on the adhesive so it sort of puddles. The key is to leave enough kerosene so it will allow the adhesive to soak. Then I used a razor blade scraper to remove the large spots. Then with the elbow grease use another rag with kerosene to rub off the rest.If you are doing the trunk definitely remove it. There is a company that make spray rust converter. You basically spray the substance directly on the rust, let it set and dry. When dry the substance converts the rust to a black material that you can then prime and paint over. It works great for me. I have had no rust show up where I have used it. I bought mine at Wal-Mart. Hope this helps.

Eastwood sells the rust sealing spray can (Link above). I think it's about $20/can. I used it on the pedal assembly I pulled out of the junk yard. Worked for me.
