I was thinking about this and hope to get some input from others. What is really the best way to make my car quicker, and for the least amount of $$? This is my car as it is: '70 fastback, 351W, Carter 625, FMX, 3.00 gears, dual exhaust. I was thinking gears...maybe 3.25 or 3.5's. The car sees very little highway use, just around town mostly. I'm on a budget, so anything to make her quicker and for as little $$ as possible is a help.------------------ Gary M.- 1970 Mustang Deluxe SportsRoof (daily driver), 1946 Ford pickup, 1947 Ford pickup, 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Vic

My real world experiance on SBF's has been in the 20 to 25 HP range once the tune up has been optomized. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Long tube headers..... Then go find a Mustang II V-6 4spd car and take the 3.55 center section out of it. Both for under $200.00...... Spend whatever's left on tuning!!!!!!!------------------ Todd 71 Mav Grabber All orig 306 cu.in. Cast Iron heads. Carillo Rods.Best et. 10.71 @ 124 thru the mufflers.

Okay, i can add lot's of HP w/ nitrous...but I'm looking for power that is usable all the time. Besides, I prefer not to have a NOx tank in the trunk of my car in 120 degree summer days here in AZ.------------------ Gary M.- 1970 Mustang Deluxe SportsRoof (daily driver), 1946 Ford pickup, 1947 Ford pickup, 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Vic

Do the MII's have a 9 inch rear? I thought they had 8" rears? The rear in my car is 9"...but that brings up something new. Are used gears worth using? ------------------ Gary M.- 1970 Mustang Deluxe SportsRoof (daily driver), 1946 Ford pickup, 1947 Ford pickup, 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Vic

Think I may go with Alex's recommendation and start shopping for some headers and new Flows. Then I'll look into gears. ------------------ Gary M.- 1970 Mustang Deluxe SportsRoof (daily driver), 1946 Ford pickup, 1947 Ford pickup, 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Vic

Look for mid 60s ford pickups and econolines for some good 9 inch rear gears.I had a couple of 66s with 3.89 gears and my dad had an econoline with 4.56 gears There's lots of mid 70s with 3.50s as well.------------------ 1968 mustang j-code sprint.13.69@101 306cu.in, stock ported heads, weiand exellerator,650 holley DP,hedman hedders, comp 292 Magnum cam,4-speed,8 inch 4.11 detroit locker http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/MembersPics/mustangboy.html
