ah thats a great find!
its a good STRONG tranny and will be much nicer than the T-5 --- I dont believe you need any adapter plate for it, however I COULD BE WRONG, so ask about it over in the Drivetrain Section at www.fordsix.com and Im sure Al and all of them will have all the answers and info you need on the swap (I do believe its even mroe straightforward then putting in the T-5)

again, nice buy! have fun with it!

It's about as strong as a block of styrofoam....

The only 4-speed that was offered behind the 200 was the English Dagenham. It was not a strong tranny and can be extremely expensive to fix if you can locate the parts for it. 'Wooden gears' was a popular term for it. Now, with the right mix of parts, you can install a Toploader 4-speed or later SROD 4-speed behind the 200, but they weren't factory installed in the 60's.

Hopefully, if you did get a Dagenham, that it came with the bellhousing as it was different than the 1960 to 1965 2.77 bellhousing. Also, if you currently have the 2.77 and have a 2-bolt starter (indicated a '66-specific 2.77), then you'll need the smaller 8 1/2" recessed style flywheel because the Dag bell won't fit over the larger one.

I've been researching, collecting, and selling 144/170/200 specific bellhousing, tranny components and adapters for 3 years now and started my research over 10 years ago. Currently, I have in my possession 8 DIFFERENT manual bellhousings that were used behind the 144/170/200 from 1960 to 1982, so I'm not blowing smoke, I know what I'm talking about.

Fordsix.com if you want to know more. Have we see that before?

Al

Ah Im sorry Collin and Al, I didnt assume that it was a Dagenham, I assumed that he got a good deal on a toploader or a 4-speed from a truck and wasnt sure what the adapter plate deal would be for it

In short.....I apologize for the misinformation, Im terribly sorry!

have a good one

Just outside of Macon Georgia there's a place that rebuilds T5's to order. $695 + $200 core. They told me they would sell me a rebuildable core for $200. I'm going to go that route and build my own.

Mustang Central in Byron Ga. 478-956-3871. They dont give a warranty because too many people use them for drag cars and tear them up too often.
