I dont mean to sound redundant, however, www.fordsix.com has answers, or at least thoughts, with regards to any and every question youve asked here!!! Im not saying some of those questions cannot be answered here at M&M, Im just saying www.fordsix.com specializes in sixes so you can get answers a LOT faster there you say youve looked and what not but then you ask questions here that i KNOW you can get answers to over at www.fordsix.com, so I figure I should do another plug for the great site and yes, its possible as is anything with enough ka-ching!!!$$$$ Here are my ideas for having a good peppy six: 1)a good tuneup -- this goes with any engine 2)electronic ignition -- either Pertronix setup with a Pertronix coil and wires, or the Duraspark II electronic setup from an '81 Fairmont 3)a T-5 transmission (in my opinion the best, easiest, and most enjoyable bang for buck improvement for a sixer!!!!) 4)a header (either dual outlet or single outlet, either way) and nice 2" exhaust 5)adapter plate for a 2bbl carb. 6)upgrade the suspension a bit -- ie: lowering springs and what not, sway bars, export brace, monte carlo bar to stiffen the chassis and make a nicer ride, new shocks 7)better wheels and tires ie: 15x7s with modern tires for better road feel, control and comfort 8)buy an OZ head setup from over at www.fordsix.com, the timing gears, the windage-style oil pan, new cam The first 7 things you can do on an engine that has say 50,000 or more miles and still get an improvement and enjoyment. If you FIRST do a full engine rebuild and THEN do those first 7 items, youll feel even more effects OR you could do item number 8 when doing the engine rebuild and feel the MOST improvements you could even do the new cam in the middle of one of the first 7 steps as well but it would be easier and morepractical when doing a full rebuild good luck have a good one! ------------------ CrAzY Dan~ 1965 Coupe "BeeBop" 200ci Straight Six, T-5, Cliffy 6-2 header, and some other goodies :)https://mustangsandmore.com//ubb/TheIceman.html July of 2000 pics

Or better yet, get a Crossflow or OHC.
