We just got our letter from Ford about our 68 fastback. It says my tranny was "automatic type XP". Was it a C-4 or C-6? It's a "J-code" car. Currently, no engine/trans. :cofused:

can you check your Warranty plate for the info?Look for a code of either
U=C6
W=C4 sam
note Warranty Plate is located on the Drivers Door..if it's still there. sam

That is the FMX transmission, door tag code X.------------------

The data tag says "U". So I guess it came with a C-4. Thanks

The History 999 reports from Ford have slightly different coding... must be some "internal use" codes.An XP transmission is a C4. An XPL is a C6. I don't recall what they used for FMX. ------------------

If you would like post the rest of the Codes off the Plate and one of us will de-code it for you also the VIN.
