I aquired a 67 from a friend of mine, originally it had a 200cid 6 and 3 on the tree in it now it sports a unknown vintage 302 2bbl Auto, anyway I added a power brake booster and need to change the pedal assembly but I'm confused, do I need to change the bracket too the pivot looks much further from the pushrod in the pictures I've seen and I don't think the bracket in my car has and extra set of holes to mount it (kinda hard to see under there) anyone done this on a 67? Thanks in advance, Robert

Yup ! THERE IS a small hole located way up high in the bracket that you have to use as the new pedal pivot. You need to buy a power brake pedal (junkyard or kit from mustang shops)which is longer than the standard one. The kit also provides all necessary hardware to connect the pedal to the bracket. Shouldn't be too hard

Robert, I believe I have everything you need, and I'm just up the road in Lake Stevens. I've got a complete 69' disc brake set-up available also/ spindles, discs, backing plates, calipers, hoses, bearings, etc. About 3k miles on all. If you're interested.

Geerwerkz, Can't seem to get through to your E-Mail. Call 360-653-4786, and tell them you want Neal's brake system. Leave your phone number.

Neal, Did you find it yet? I'm having to drive the car back and forth to work and the brakes are kinda scary the way they are. I'll just order a new one if you can't locate it.

It's done! Thanks to all for your help.I ended up ordering a 68-69 power brake pedal assy from Mustangs Plus. Installation only took 1/2 an hour, and the pedal pressure is much improved! My only concern is the pedal sits a lot higher than it used to (about 1 1/2-2" higher than the gas pedal) is this normal?

When you say the pedal sits higher do you mean vertically or toward you? I?ll have to look at mine when I get home.

It sticks out from the floor more (toward me) I keep cliping the edge of the pedal when my foot goes from the gas to the brake and I had to move the seat back a couple inches to keep from hitting my knee on the underside of the dash when I use the brakes I also have to use my toe on the gas.

I didn?t get an actual measurement but if I put the back of my hand on the gas pedal the palm side of my fingers touch the back of the brake pedal. So I guess that would be about ?? or a little more. You can adjust your gas pedal to come toward you or away from you. I?ll check the shop manual when I get home to see what the height should be.

In the 68 shop manual the accelerator pedal should be 4? to 4 ?? away from the toe board. That?s the part of the floor that goes up on an angle from the flat floor pan to the firewall. This should be the same as the 67 as the only difference between the two brake pedals is the width of the pedal. The 67 is a little narrower from left to right and uses a different pad than the 68-9. The adjustment on the accelerator pedal is made by spinning the accelerator shaft that attaches to the carb. [This message has been edited by 68 S-code GT (edited 04-25-2003).]
