I have a leak on my 68. It is leaving antifreeze on top of the timing chain cover. Any ideas where that may be coming from? I checked around the water neck and it is dry. Checked the intake manifold, dry. Where elsee does the coolant run that it may be leaking from. Please don't tell me something is cracked.

Small block, right? It's pretty common for them to leak there. It weeps at the intake gasket, I believe.

Could also be corrosion rearing it's ugly head. Hope it's just a gasket.

Yeah I forgot to mentin, its a 289. Seeping gasket sounds like my choice of problems. I'll try that first. Cross my fingers.

Also check the thermostat housing, they are prone to corrosion, much easier to replace than the intake gaskets.

I would say the thermostat housing is leaking. I fought with the fancy chrome type for a long time but finally just replaced it with a cast iron stock ford part. No moe leak.

i've had a similar problem, but it turned out to be corrosion around the water neck not allowing a good seal for the radiator hose. It only leaked when hot, though.

I have one of those chrome o-ring thermostat housing that has been on my car since last may. Only put 800 miles on it since then, but it hasn't leaked at drop. Only time will tell though if it stays sealed, but seems like it would to me.

Well the easy way to find out if its a intake gasket or not is to re torque the intake..... It should slow it down if not stop it..

Had the same problem with my 289, turned out to be the t-stat housing and the water pump. They were both new from the box, took them back and the new ones they gave me have not lost a drop.
