Can anyone tell me if the crossmember required to install a c-4 in a 71 mach is different than the c-6 one that came with the car? If so, Anyone interested in trading?

Maybe. Like you, I'm crossing my fingers they're the same. My 72 Mach came with no engine or tranny, but with the tranny support, and since it was originally a 302, I'm assuming it had a C4. I now have a C6 ready to go in.
Shipping cost may kill any deal though
Let's see what gets said ...

71-3 C-6 and C-4 crossmembers are indeed different. The C-6 unit has only three mounting points, to clear the "L" shaped pan, and the slots for the mount are offset a bit. The C-4 has 4 "legs". The ones for stick cars are different as well, made of a heavier gauge material with a reinforcement under the center where the tranny mount sits, but will work ofr a C-4. I think I may have an extra one of each, If you guys need 'em, let me know....

Hemikiller, I have an idea...how about we both pay shipping to get you to send us the correct crossmembers for our applications and when I swap this out in a couple weeks I will send you my old C-6 mount and Fastback68 can send you his old C-4 mount so you end up with a spare C-4 and C-6 mount again? I would just swap Fastback68 straight across but I need to drive my car to a friends shop for the swap...

Thanks...

Ooooh dear ... I hate to be the party pooper I'd end up paying about $100 all in for shipping. But I hope you two can work something out. And thanks for the offer Dennis!

I just got this pic off e-Bay, but the guy said it came from some Ford or other and might fit a Mustang. Is this basically what a Stang C6 mount looks like?
