i recently installed a shift kit in my c4. now i cant seem to adjust my shifter properly. when i get it adjusted to where i can get it in first gear it wont go into park and when i get it to where it will go into park i cant manually shift it into first just into second. must shifter also has alot of play in it also. i was wondering if i need a new shifter or if i didnt line up my valve body correctly when i reinstalled it. thanks

Sounds like you need to install new bushings in your shifter or in you shift linkage, that should tighten everythin up and allow you to have both park and first gear.

heres a bit more info. when i had first i could get part only if i held the shifter all the way forward and let the car roll until park grabbed. if not i would roll will the tranny clicked like i wanted to grab but didnt. also the tranny would only downshift into first if i was going real slow. i dont know how normal this is. all other gears work fine and i dont remember this happening before i installed the shift kit. but again my shifter i really sloppy like about an inch of play while in each gear.
