I have just been offered a pair of 302 heads, casting number D0OE and date code 1E14 (May 14th 1971) according to this page http://home1.gte.net/res03net/faqs/head.htm these heads should have 58.2 combustion chambers and 1.78/1.45 valves. If I remember everything correct I have C8OE 289 heads on my 289 that comes from a 8 Falcon and these heads are listed on the same page with 63.0 combustion chambers and 1.67/1.45 valves. Is the info on the http://home1.gte.net/res03net/faqs/head.htm page the way I have interpret it correct? If I buy the D0OE heads my plan is to rebuild them, port them, install larger valves, screw-in studs and so on. As I live in Sweden, northern Europe there is no aftermarket heads available at any reasonable prices here and shipping, customs and tax would make a private import more or less pointless. I know about the early 351W heads but like I said we have no aftermarket heads here and that has made the early 351W heads almost the only choice which everyone knows which is reflected in the price picture if you can find a pair. The specs on the site are correct. If you mill the D00E units along with the porting and valve swap, you will have some pretty decent heads when you are done.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." I believe the 289s had the same size 1.78 intake valves as the 302 starting around 1965.Shame on you Alex.

Shame on me? Did I fart? I said valve "swap" as what Mr.Hakan was eluding to as in replacement. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." The specs on the site are not correct as they show the 289 with the small valves up until 68.I was just making a little joke since I thought a small block guru like yourself would have noticed that right away.

What am I missing here? 289's were indeed produced in 68 and still used 1.78 and 1.46 size valves. I know that I have a bad case of the flu and I'm not seeing or thinking very well, but I don't understand what you are pointing out MB? ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Unless........., you are reffering to the 1.67 intake size which appears to be erroneously listed. If that's the case, then yes, I blew right by it. Shame on me. I looks at so much of this sh*t that most times I assume that these guys get their facts straight. Oh well, I guess you know what happens when you assume anything. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked."
