I settled on a 15 watt x 4 channel Jensen Tape deck for my 68. It isn't a perfect fit, I've had to take my grinder to the housing, and saw off grind down, and reattach the passenger side nob housing. This head unit should be strong enough to keep me happy after I get a CD changer.

Get a radio delete cover and mount what ever you want in it.

The stock system is poor but there are good units being sold through mustang parts vendors like NPD that fit without major alterations. You also can change out that center speaker with a dual upgrade and install some nice speakers in the doors. ------------------ 69 393W Sportsroof Deluxe

I will be installing a AM/FM tape deck from JC Whitney soon. Cost $30 and included 2 speakers. I figured even if the tape deck sucks the FM will be worth it.------------------ Dustin C "The Mopar Guy!" 56 F-100 Mech. for wifes 69 Mustang coupe 65 Plymouth Barracuda 70 Dodge Swinger

It looks great the way it is. A fast car with no scoop seems rare these days.

On my uncle's 70 Mach, we put a Pioneer CD deck into the dash (looks really good!) and used one of those boxes that has subs and speakers built in. Also added a 300W amp. By using a box like that, it can be removed when it's time to go to the strip. Do it that way, and there isn't much hacking to be done (only the dash). Sounds good, too. Personally, however, I don't care much for those type of boxes. Not much bass. I think we are going to build our own set-up; one large box that has a center chamber for a single 12" sub, and two side chambers for 6"x9" 3-way speakers. We'll use a 4-channel amp, add a dual center speaker, and call it good. The new box will be removable, too.

Mount it in the glove box and put the original radio back in

Also, you can mount a CD deck upright in your console. Its a trick I found out about in CJ Jeeps.------------------ Dustin C "The Mopar Guy!" 56 F-100 Mech. for wifes 69 Mustang coupe 65 Plymouth Barracuda 70 Dodge Swinger
