We just sold a full factory setup that was 100% complete. Every last detail to install factory A/C into a '69, using all NEW components wherever possible (compressor, hoses, dryer, condensor, evaporator, heater core, blower motor, expansion valve, etc..) and all the original components like the lower dash, all vents, plenum, ducts, control assembly, cables etc.. were MINT, fully restored, and ready for install. No holes, broken nipples, and not looking like it had just been drug out of a junk yard dog. $1500 bucks was what we wound up settling for, because we had been sitting on it for a couple years (it had been put together for a customer who backed out at the last minute, don't ya love folks like that??) and it needed to find a home. I thought it was a gift at that price. I wouldn't go very high for that stuff (I hate to say a price) in that I don't see any air vents, or a control unit, and there's broken pieces, a hole to repair in the dash, and alot of components you'll need to buy new to do the project. Count on not being able to use any of the actual functioning pieces there (i.e. all of the components I listed as being new in our setup). Trying to use used A/C stuff is kind of like assembling an engine with a bushel basket of used shagged-out engine parts. It likely won't run, and if it does happen to, not for long without something failing, and then something else, and then something else....The only value in what you're getting there is the stuff that CAN'T be bought new, the dash, the ducts, the blower housing, the case, the controls, etc... All the other stuff you'll be throwing in the dumpster and buying new. And there's the $350-$450 expense of buying an A/C dash pad. You'll have to joust with the guy, because even though you'll have to buy a ton of stuff to complete the system, he knows that you can't hatch the chicken without his eggs. That's why factory A/C is an expensive proposition for 69 and up, and a car that has it is always valued considerably higher.[This message has been edited by RICKS (edited 01-30-2003).]

Got another one? Thanks for the info. Looks like the aftermarket version is something to consider after all....

I agree with Ricks but you can still find a good used units out there. I was fortunate to have AC installed on mine but I took my unit completely apart and reconditioned the parts and seals for a small amount of money.Keep looking at ebay and other used parts sources, I saw one a short time back that was a complete system minus the dash, but the aftermarket units don't look bad either. ------------------ 69 393W Sportsroof Deluxe
