That's not a VIN, it's the casting number of an engine block.https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/009051.html ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com

the question was..what year is the car engine. It was already in the car when I got it last year...or is there another # that would lock in the year., for the sake of plugs, filters, stuff that would relate to the exaust, and systems..thanks alot for your help., d

Donnie, Im no expert at reading engine blocks or part numbers, there are many books and websites that help, BUT, i do know that the first letter is a "decade code" C means 1960's D means 1970'sSo yours is a 1970s block. Second number is the "year code" so a D9 block is a 1979 engine block. the other letters can be decoded but I dont know off the top of my head what they mean. 6015 is just a part number for that block. hope this helps.
