I'm ready to buy a new Flaming River Steering Box for my 65 Fastback. Which ratio should I order? I will be mostly street driving but will occasionally autocross and road race. Is the 19 box enough easier to steer that it justifies having to turn the wheel farther or is the 16 box easy enough to handle with NO power steering??

I have the 16:1 box in my '69 coupe. Steers very easily with 15" diameter Cobra Repro wheel, and 225/50/16 sticky tires.
It should be fine in a lighter '66......

I believe F. R. are all the same ratio-- 16-1 I put one on a 68 big block & it's like a new car.--S.

I personally much prefer the 16:1 box, particularly with manual steering. I just like the more "positive" connection with the car and the road. I found an HCC-AW (16:1 power steering box) for less than $50 at a swap meet and installed it in the Fastback, replacing the well worn 19:1 HCC-AT box). I believe that the typical used PS box has little wear on it as the power steering mechanism in the early cars takes the strain off the box. This induces less wear than occurs on the two manual boxes (HCC-AX and HCC-AT). All I did was reset the torque settings (inch pounds) in the 16:1 PS box to the 16:1 manual box (HCC-AX) specs before installing it. The setup is the only difference between the two 16:1 boxes.
