Is anyone running roller rockers under aluminum "Cobra Powered by Ford" valve covers? How did you get the clearance?

A friend of mine is using roller rockers under a set of original "Buddy Bar" brand, hollow letter valve covers. He had to remove the baffle under the fill and grind away the cast mounting.
If you do not wish to alter an original set, Tony Branda sells a repro set that is taller to clear roller set-ups. Charlie

Are you talking about roller fulcrums or roller tips? If it's just the roller tips you shouldn't have any clearence issues.

Thanks guys.

The rockers have roller fulcrums. From MidLifCrisis's suggestion, I took a look at the Tony Branda website and it looks like they have two solutions: the taller covers, or a spacer goes between the head and valve cover.

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Fel Pro has some double-thick gaskets; they require longer valvecover bolts but they raise the covers 1/2"+. Along with pounding the baffles in some, those gaskets provided enough clearance for my Comp Cams ProMagnum full rollers w/ poly locks. You can check the baffles for clearance by dabbing the locks with grease, wiggling the valvecover around on the head, and then checking the baffles for any grease smears. I did this with standard gaskets, so once clearanced, the thick gaskets provided PLENTY of clearance. Note: Depending on the heads, it may or may not work... my Trick Flow heads have raised valvecover flanges (.400") Fel Pro is really proud of those gaskets however... $45

You can see my valvecovers in my sig below

I went with the tall Ford Motorsport valve covers..only suggestion I have is don't buy them if you live near saltwater..seems I'm forever cleaning them due to salt build up and sometime soon I'll replace all that dang polished Alum with someting else,to much up keep

B&B makes spacers for less than Branda.
They probably buy them from B&B.
Thick Fel-Pro gasket trick will work.

FYI.

Just an update, my B&B Performance valve cover spacers just showed up from www.flatlanderracing.com . I'm a bit disappointed with the workmanship. They are bare castings, without any machine work to the top or bottom mating surfaces. These surfaces are not flat, which makes me think they're going to be leakers. Anyone have any experience with these?

I guess I'll just slop on some clear RTV to the gaskets. I they leak, then I'll just chalk this up to experience and go with the double gasket trick. Oh well.

All you needed was some #1645 Fel-Pro gaskets.

KAOS, our HIPO 66 vert has roller rockers. When we first changed to Cobra valve covers we used spacers. UGLY!! IMO. But we told Ron at M+ that we didn't like the spacers and he found us some tall Cobra covers. They are nice.
