In comparing the data plate-decal on the driver's door of my 71 to a friends 71, I noticeed some significant differences between the two of them. On mine, it says in the top left corner: MANUFACTURED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANYJust like that. No abbreveations, on two lines. On my friends it says: MFD. BY FORD MOTOR COMP. IN U.S.A. Abbreviations, and 'In USA' added! On the bottom of mine it says: NOT FOR TITLE OR REGISTRATION MADE IN THE U.S.A. On his, it says nothing. The build date of mine is 10/70, and the build date of his is 5/71. They are both Dearborn cars. Does anyone know why the stickers are different for the same model-year cars? Is it because of the different build-years? By the way, they are both original stickers.

i dont have a clue really. but is probably the same reason that they will use 2 or 3 different water pumps etc. on an engine in the same year.------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-7.51 @89mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://prestage.com/site/site_display.asp?SiteID=141

Don't know, when I get off the night shift I will go out to where I have my 72 stored and look at mine.

CV71: I'm just guessing, but maybe your car was 'tagged' that way with the intensions to live it's life as a in-plant test mule car, not intended to be sold by a dealer....I know the manufacturer's did that sorta thing.... Ryan

That part just relates to the fact that you need to use the VIN on the actual dash plate for registration purposes, as the door can be easily changed along with the door tag. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, MyFordPerformance.com, and FordRamAir.com
