Finally installed the under dash clutch spring on my '69. What a Bee-yatch. I finally conned a friend into cutting me a new spring isolator bushing out of nylon on a lathe. I'm suprised that no one is making those bushings for the aftermarket, since they are unavailable....... Thanks for the tips guys. BTW to the installation method that uses two hose clamps works well. You have to have the spring totally compressed to get it in however.

This spring installation and the door window mechanism are, in my opinion, the two nastiest project on a mustang. So you are half way through

A little horseshoe looking thing? Hmmmmm, I bought a few direct from Ford ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

Nope. The '69 has a large spring that sort of looks like a giant valve spring mounted in a compressed position on top of the clutch pedal. Each end of the spring had a tubular isolator with a locating groove. These isolators (or springs for that matter) are not available as far as I could tell. I called Ford and all the new and used parts vendors with no luck. Finally had to get an isolator made.

Thanks anyways. I actually got David V. to make it for me in his shop. I had to buy him lunch though.

Cool, maybe you could talk nice to him about cutting a crank for the stroker cleveland I want to build. I bet that would cost me a whole bunch more than just lunch though. j/k
That was nice of him to do that for you though.
