Has anyone here installed a turbo on a classic stang before? I guess you would have to install EFI first, but still curious if anyone has done it?

Thanks,
Brian

I did a blow through carb installation on a 67 SBF fastback Mustang in 1979 or 1980. It turned out nice, but had all of the typical turbo problems of the day. Low speed lag and too much power when the boost came on.

There was a link to an article about one on here not that long ago. A Guy had made a 66 with a turbo 302. Wastegates help eliminate some of the lag but its still a problem. Superchargers fit better and run pretty smooth and lag free, besides there are supercharger kits available for about 2000 dollars. Turbos need custom installation, fancy header arrangements etc...

Interestingly enough the ford 4 cyl 2.3L turbo has just the right size turbo on it for a twin turbo 289-302. That engine came in the thunderbird turbo coupe, and even some SVO fox mustangs.

how are your welding skills?

I personally have not seen a turbo install, but I am currently running a centrifugal supercharger blow-though set up on a 68 fastback with a 393 stroker now.
Yes, there is an immense amount of torque and power.
