Tandem m/c out of an '83 Ranger in my '65. The pedal got soft the other day, popped the cap off only to find the front resivoir (rears) was damn near empty while the rear res was full to the gills After bleeding both channels, I sunk the pedal without the cap on it and watched a gyser out of the front res... the fluid is creeping under the resivoir seperating wall, filling up the rear and eventually sucking air in the front. Obviously I'll be getting a new cap and gasket, but why the gyser?------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

It's sucking air when you release the pedal, then pushing it back out again. That's why they invented pressure bleeders.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Hey Todd,We had that same problem with the '74 Maverick MC except it was leaking out the sides not internally. My dad bent the cap tensioner (is that the right word?) to keep the lid on tighter and now it keeps the fluid in there nice and tight!! Todd, Having completely taken appart a M/C during my restoration project on my 67, sounds like a seal inside the master cylinder has failed causing the fluid under pressure from the front piston to burst into the front reservoir and then, fluid from that reservoir to be sucked-in the piston chamber & rear reservoir on the return of the pedal.

Fluid should shot up if the step on the pedal with the lid off. You are pushing all the fluid from the calipers into the MC, and with no lid it just shoots up. If you pump the brake slowly it will not shoot up as bad.
