I know at 1 time I read a post about the special U-joint to go from a 1965 Mustang driveshaft to the larger Yoke 9" rear end. BUT, of course I can't find it. Does anybody know what part I am looking for? It's a hybrid Joint that has small size 1 way and larger size the other way. Ernie, is that the stock driveshaft? Before I had a 3" driveshaft with big yokes made up, I was using the same combo. I'll look to see if I've got record of the u-joint I found to be the correct one here at home, but I think it's in my desk at the shop. I'll look here (at home), maybe I'll get lucky ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

V8 Thumper, It's not the stock driveshaft, I got an aluminum one, but I measured it and it has the same size U-joints that the stock shaft has. Thanks for looking. Can't find the invoice here, but I've got an empty box... Precision Universal Joint p/n# 505. Radride's Spicer p/n would be a better choice. Maybe a parts house can verify that the two p/n's cross, and that's your u-joint ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

Ernie, As a suggestion to taking the part numbers, also take in the dimensions of the span, both ways and the cap sizes of the drive shaft and the rear yoke. Ford used such a variety of combinations. I've bought two Inland Empire aluminum shafts and had to change the rear joint on both of them. Changing joints on an aluminum shaft is not as easy as a steel shaft, IMHO. If your 9 inch rear is a factory 65-Hipo it will have the narrow span rear yoke. Mike

Mike, Thanks for the suggestion. By now I should know that you need to double check and verify everything, I've probably had to return parts 40-50 times Well that might be a little exaggeration!! I will go out and measure everything tonight before I go to the parts store. I have a Versaille rear end, but the Yoke I bought at a swap meet, so WHO KNOWS what that's from. ------------------ Have a Wonderful Day CandyApple 65 Fastback 351W, 4 Speed Versaille 9" Rear End Global West Front End [email protected]

I have had that spicer unit in MM for over 20 years when I first installed a Strange N case with a big yoke. Never had a failure. If they can't cross the number it's also known as a 1350 to 1330 series conversion joint. I now use a 1350 joint as I have an aluminum drive shaft.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked."
