I asked about a tailshaft housing gasket yesterday you guys are great....but I do have a question. I need to drive the car some before I fix the speedo. Will it hurt anything? I looked up in the cable hole and the gear has slid forward on the shaft and I am wondering if there is a dowel pin or some other part that might have come loose or will that might damage the trans. I would hate to have a pin or key floating around that would eat the trans.------------------ 1969 MACH 1 THE FEEL AND SOUND OF A FORD V-8 IS ALL THE DRUGS A MAN NEEDS

Dennis,It won't hurt it to drive it. The gear is held in position on the shaft with snap rings. SteveW
