I wonder how many went out the door with the vinyl roof? Check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6236&item=1875615060

Good point Sam. Although it was possible to have the hood pins not installed (as a delete option), I believe all the 69 Mach 1`s had the blackout on the hood. As for the vinyl top, I used to see a bright yellow 69 Sportsroof with a black vinyl top running around New Westminster B.C., when I lived there in the late 70`s-early 80`s. UUUGGGLLLYYY!!!!

Like that cat litter ad..Something stinks and it's NOT the litter! Fresh paint! Indeed! Probably fresh vinyl top too. What better way to cover up roof rust that those cars were prone to have. Not sure about 69 sportsroofs, but if the headliner is weak, wonder why it didn't get fixed when the sh*tty vinyl covering was cobbled on. For sure!, those belt mouldings are NOT factory. Tha VR was probably done at Vince's Vinyl top factory. Caveat Emptor! Buying a car on Ebog is like Russian Roulette with 5 bullets in a six shooter! Guess those deals are there, but if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. LOOK before you leap.

I had a friend who bought one.
Looser blue with a black top, 390 and a 4 speed. He bought it new in June of 70. That's how long it sat.
The dealer had to make him a killer deal on a 427 transplant just to move the thing.

He metions about no rust on the floors but I would swear I see a rust hole in the left apron, right in front of the shock tower above the "6" in the date, in the picture of the dirty engine bay. Another thing he metions is adding the GT rear valance so dual exhaust chrome tips could be added, that was part of the MACH1 package.

Looks like one on the other side also. What?s with the white solenoid, coil and the Pontiac colored breather cap. And the horn works but it?s not hooked up to the rim blow?

Ronnie, although most of the 69 Mach 1`s did come with the cut out rear valance, it is my understanding that the 351 2 barrel cars, which was the base engine in the Mach 1, only had single exhaust, thus no cut out valance. Being a "H" code car, this Mach 1`s 2 barrel engine would have been a single exh. car.

Kevin Marti says that according to the 1967 through 1973 Ford database, there were NO pre-1971 fastback Mustangs that came from the factory with vinyl roofs. They were a dealer installed option.

However, the database is not perfect, so who can say, with 100% certainty.

I will pass along the VIN of this car to Kevin and see if he wants to look it up.

I don't think that all 69 Mach's had the hood pins. They were standard equipment on the 69's, but wasn't there a hood-pin delete option? I have seen several highly restored 69 machs without pins, and of course a bunch with them.
