I have one that came in the trunk of my '69 but I don't have a bellhousing for it, are they expensive?

I am I better off just going with something newer with overdrive and selling the 4spd?

Yea, bellhousings cost a fortune, you'd better sell me that toploader

No really, I'm just kidding . Used bellhousings are quite reasonably priced, you see them on Ebay all the time. As far as what trans is best... depends on what motor you've got, mild or wild, and your plans for the car. The late model 5 speed is a real popular swap, kits are available for a straight bolt-in.

What trans (if any) is in the car now?

If you decide to go with an overdrive 5 speed and want to get rid of that toploader, drop me an email

Put me on the list also, if you want to sell the toploader. I have a friend that may want one for his 66 Fairlane.

I guess I'll run a search, just figured I'd take the lazy way out and ask here.

The car has a freshly built 390. Two weeks ago it was a daily driven sixer, now it's just a weekend cruiser. As soon as the tranny goes in.

It's not wild though, maybe 430hp.
If I ever lose my mind and decide to sell, I guess it goes to V8 Thumper, just 'cause he's in Orange and he asked first.

The toploader is a stout transmission. Having not done a 5 speed swap I know very little about it, but I don't remember seeing one behind a big block. Mustangs Plus (link at the top of this page) has swap kits; they'd be a great source of info. You could try calling customer service and see what they have to say
