I got a 69 Mach 1 "M" code at the body shop. In the trunk welded (It looks to be factory) is a bracket that stand upward and is welded to the right rear bracket that goes from the trunk floor to support where the rear bumper bolts .Is this to keep the spare tire away from the taillight? My friends 70 Mach 1 doesn't have one but mine does. What is this bracket for? Thanks

Only 69`s have these, they kinda look like maybe the factory may had planned on installing some kind of protector over the tail light housings. If you look, you will also notice the 69 tail light housings have 4 little tabs with a small hole in each tab.I`m just guessing, but maybe these were going to protect the housings from damage caused by items sliding around in that HUUUGE

trunk. I can`t say I`ve ever seen a factory cover, but thats my guess.
