will the exterior mirrors of the 71-73 mustangs fit on a 69 or 70 mustang? i found a pretty good deal on a pair of mirrors that came off a 71. they look VERY similar and i was wondering if they would work. thanks

I`m not positive, but I think the bases on the 71-73 are different. I can`t recall if it was the hieght, or if the angle was different. 70-71 Torino are different for sure.

The '71-'73 mirrors are bigger and the spacing between the mounting screws are wider.

71-73 mirrors are not easy to come by, in my experience. I'd buy them anyway if the price is right, and trade them later.
I don't know how many other folks out there are like me, but I don't sell Stang stuff anymore, I only trade for other Stang stuff.

In the book Mustang Recognition Guide, pages 208-209, there is a 1973 Mustang standard fastback that either has 69-70 sport mirrors on it, or the 71-73 mirrors were mounted in the position of those earlier years. Right up at the corner of the window, rather than back a ways, like on most 71-73.

I wonder if it is a factory oddity? I have seen at least one other 71-73 that way, maybe a few others.
