Hey, I was poking around noticed your car. I have a 67 myself. I was wondering if you have any more pics of your car... in partcular the rims and tires. I really don't want my tires sticking out at all and was curious as to how much yours do. And if I had the 4.5 backspacing offered on the Weld draglites would they tuck in better. Do you have a pic of the back end? Or do you think if you replaced the 275/50's with 275/60's you'd be able to get more in line with the fender lips?

If It helps I have a 68 with Weld Rodlites same basic wheel as draglites.I have a 4.5 b.s and 275/60/15 drag radials and they fit nicely inside the wheewell.I do have 5 leaf standard eye springs so if you have soft springs or a lowered car I would be careful. The 275/60's are 28" tall and the 275/50's are 26" I would like to switch over to 50's because they are shorter. With a 4.5" backspace they would not stick out when you look straight down. They would still have contact if you hit a hard bump. I'll take some more pics soon.Alton

I'd really appreciate that Alton. I really only want to do this once. I've been looking and searching everywhere and from what I'm gathering the 15x10 rim with 5.5 bs would fit... but the tire would spread too wide and stick out. I don't mind rolling the fender by the way. So it looks as if the 15x8 w/4.5 bs is the correct rim. We'll go 15x5 up front. Now the tires... from your post and others it appears that the 275-60 would be a good choice. As long as I got that 4.5 backspacing. The only thing though is that it's a tall tire. I'd like the 275-50... but will that get me back outside the fender? I guess your pics will help me out a bit. If I'm REAL lucky... I'll be able to find a local BFG shop that will help my thru and switch around different sizes. But for now I'm just trying to narrow it down. Anybody else got pics of their cars with Welds on it would be great!!!!

The 235-50-15 is 8" wide and the 275-60-15 is 8.8" wide. At 26.1" the 235-60-15 is the same height as the 10" wide 275-50-15.

Hey Alton... did you ever get around to posting those pics on your rear tire and wheel combo?? I'm still leaning towards the 275-50, provided they don't stick out past the fenders at all. Don't mind rolling the lip. Anybody know if the TA Drag Radial comes in a 265-50? I'm also thinking of going with the 15x9 rim with 5.5 backspace, as opposed to 15x8 with 4.5. Anybody try this yet? I'd like to crawl under and take some measurements... but the car is stored for winter. I do recall seeing a solid 1.25" between my current 4.75 backspaced rim and the leaf springs. Anybody??

Just remember that you need to allow for about 1 inch of bulge for the tire.If you have a Jegs cat. it has all of the measurements for the tires in it.The DR's dont come in 265/50 only the t/a's do.

I went out to the garage and took some pics, but I will have to size them at work next week. It's been raining alot here and it doesn't help that I pulled the engine.

Man Alton, That is one nice Stang. It will be nice to hear it run with the new engine. Did you decide on using the remote mirrors or stick with what you have now?

Dustin, Those remote mirrors had cracked bases. I have another 68 type mirror for the pass side. Thanks for reminding me. I'm going to use a 3" Mac catback from a 4.6 Cobra. You think that will wake the neighbors?
