Who knows of some obscure appearences by our favorite pony-car in TV or Movies. I've kinda' been collecting these little-known appearences on video for about 15 years.
What is your favorite 'celebrity Stang'?

What about the yellow 70 Fastback (maybe a Mach) in 'Street Hawk', a bad rip-off of 'Knight Rider'?

Jon Voight drives a '68 Shelby convertible in the movie "Coming Home" with Jane Fonda.

Tom Cruise drives a Bullitt clone in "Vanilla Sky"

Bob Uhrich had an 65-66 Fastback in the detective show in Boston whose name escapes me.

A twelve year old drives a 427 Cobra within the first 20 minutes of "Romancng the Stone"
Not a Mustang but worthy of mention.

That's all I can think of now. Charlie

The Bob Urich show was 'Spenser:For Hire', actually a fairly good show.
Stacy Keach had a 65-6 hardtop in 'Mike Hammer'
Somebody drove a 65-6 fastback, and then later a 67-68 fastback in 'The FBI'
Excellent Shelby-esque(is that a word?)convertible in 'Innerspace'
Bob Urich ALSO drove a 65 red convertible in 'American Dreamer'(quickly cancelled)
What about the 77 Cobra-II in 'Starman'?
I gotta lot more...

or the 427 Cobra Replica on "John Doe"

or the Shelby GT500 convertible that Kevin Costner drives in "Bull Durham"

or the Sunbeam Tiger Don Adams drives in the opening of "Get Smart"

Are you sure Max drove an Alpine? I also thought it was a Tiger.
He also drove an Opel GT in later episodes. Who remembers the Chiefs' car? A 68 or 69 Shelby convertible. Max used the steering wheel for a phone dial.
James Bond Movie was 'Diamond are Forever'
One of the damaged stunt-cars used in that movie was later used and blown-up in 'The Mechanic', the Charles Bronson hit-man movie.

Last nite on AMC. Stayed up and watched Bullitt. First time seen the ENTIRE movie in years. Plot so-so but the chase will always be timeless! Seeing all the current 68 crop of cars on street, Saw one 65/6 light blue/turquoise fastback in background. IT's the best car chase for me! I give a 2nd to French Connection-that was with Lemans Ponchos. Every time I see the chase get the fleeting urge to have a Bullitt 68 CV.

Yes, a red '71 Mach 1 starred in 'Diamonds Are Forever' I have that one in video, too.

Others are the remake of the 'Thomas Crown Affair' has a Shelby in it for a few seconds.

Remember the tv show 'The Nightstalker' with Darren McGavin? He has a yellow '65-'66 Mustang convertible.

The Mustang is easily the most commonly used car in movies. Want to give your star some style, put him in a Mustang!

How about "Bobby Jo and the Outlaw"? I just dug out the movie poster for it (1976), and it has a '69/70 sportsroof (looks like a Grabber as it has the Bossish stripes without the "Boss 302" in it) and a Mustang II Mach 1.

I saw them make a railway racer out of a 66 mustang on junkyard wars a few weeks back.

there was also a crappy movie starring Melanie Griffths, about some guy who had a robot as a girlfriend who wanted to have it repaired. It was set in the future. Melanie Griffiths Character had a 66 i think but it was riding on truck tires, and had some mythical turbo drive system.
Wish i could remember the name of the movie but it was so bad...

Speaking of both Gone in 60 seconds, weren't both of them 73's? I remember in the first movie they called it the last of the Mustangs.

Is the general feeling that Mustangs have been in more movies than Camaro/TA's?

Even though the Mustang(s) in the original 'Gone In 60 Seconds' are said on screen to be 73's, and referred to as "the last of the big ones", they are clearly 71or72's, with a 73-style grille. The 71-72-style front marker lights(under the bumper)can clearly be seen in most of the shots.
The movie was financed mostly with the personal money of H.B.(Toby) Halicki, the writer, director, producer, stunt-driver, and star of the movie.
The production would sometimes stop until more money could be raised, so the movie took quite a while to finish principal photography.
When the production was started the cars used were believed to be 72's, but as things dragged on, they changed the grille(s) to update them, and to make the movie seem more current.

Charlie,it was Spenser For Hire & it was a 65 Fastback I think. In some of the latter episodes he drove a pearl gray 86 Mustang GT.
Also in the Chuck Norris film Invasion USA the reporter drove a 66 vert.

On 'Spenser:for Hire', Spenser referred to his Mustang in many episodes as a 66'. That doesn't mean it was, though.
The show was on for 2 years, and Ford wanted the character to drive something new, so they could get a little 'free advertising'. So,at the beginning of the 3rd season, Spensers' 66(?) was stolen, and in the ensuing chase, it was flipped over and burned.
While he was singin' the blues at the wrecking-yard it was towed to, he spotted the new-model GT, and bought it on the spot. He drove that car for the remainder of that season.
Fans wrote so many letters complaining that they liked the old Mustang better, that the producers had a change of heart.
The first episode of the 4th season has Spenser talkng the guy who owns the wrecking yard-body shop that the 66 was towed to, and the guy casually mentions "Oh yeah, I fixed it up".(of course, it looks exactly like it did before the accident) Spenser says he would like to see "the old girl", and when he does he gets all misty-eyed and makes a deal on the spot to get it back.
He gives the guy a 1 year old loaded Mustang GT,T-TOPS and 5-speed plus $8,000 cash in trade for a totally smashed, burned and rebuilt 66, that doesn't look all that great up close. Man, I guess thats true love...

The Disney sitcom, "Boy Meets World" had a red '65-66 convert in the opening credits or the show, but I don't think it was ever in the actual show. There is a crap-tacular movie called, Motorama where some kid is driving a red 289 '66 hardtop. The movie is a piece of sh**, the kind you catch on TV at 2 am, but I was watching because of the car. There was also an episode of Wonder Years where the kids are trying to talk Dad into buying a new '65-66 Mustang coupe. Damn, I got lots of useless info rolling around in my head...

There is a an obscure movie called 'Motown Mustang', thats actually pretty interesting. It's all about the life and journey of a 65 Mustang from the day it is built on the assembly line, all through its several different owners over the years.

There was a shelby in the background for one of the scenes in "Blow".
There was a 65 fastback briefly in Smoky & the Bandit, along with a white 63(?) falcon that ol'Burt passes twice on the highway.
They blew up an 87-90 GT in "the last boy scout"
There was an 87-90 GT convertible in an Aerosmith video(the one with Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler)
Johnny Depp had a 68 Fastback on 21 Jump Street.
I think there was a Fox Mustang on the TV show "Jake & the Fatman" as well
