I was working on a 66 vert this afternoon & a couple of friends came over. One of them has a 65 Coupe with a newly installed "hot" 302, 4 speed. Well, he got ready to leave & we told him to "burn em" he said no, still got the 6 cylinder rearend under it (car was a six cylinder car). Anyways.... we kept after him & he backed out of the driveway & lit the tire. He smoked it pretty good with one tire spinning & the other tire wheel hopping badly! He went out of sight behind my house & I heard him miss 2nd gear (I thought). A few minutes later he walked into the shop saying he had trashed the rearend! He pulled the car up the driveway with the rearend making all kinds of noises.
Oh well, he said. The guy who built the engine said I'd need a 9" rearend. Guess it'll be sooner than later!
