OK - due to all the good advice here on the site - I have been talked into doing the exhaust a different way (I appreciate all the help from you guys!!)...
I ordered the 2 1/2 mandrel bent rear from MAC that exits the GT valance, and am about to order the Dynomax Utlra flows. The question I have now is - will they fit under the car? I talked with dynomax, and they cannot say which cars it will fit - the dimensions are :
19" Long X 4 1/2" Deep X 9 3/4" Wide....

My current setup is - flowmaster 40's (rusted out) and the dimensions are:
14" Long X 4" Deep X 9 1/2" Wide.....

The length is what I am really asking you about... Will it be too long??

Thanks,
Brian

I'm not sure, but shorter is better.

Personally, I'd probably go with mufflers that are made for a FOX mustang. They are generally shorter than the 'universal' mufflers offered by most companies.

The mandrel bent units will give you a little more room to work, though.

Good Luck!

I see the recommended dynomax mufflers for 5.0's are #17222, and are the 19" overall, 14" can length.

Oh, did you notice Dynomax has a $20 rebate on their mufflers that ends October 31?

www.dynomax.com

Check it out...

They will be long, but should still fit fine. The original 289 HIPO mufflers had very short muffler bodies. About 12-13 inches if memory serves me.
