I want to change my instrumentation on my 1965 Fastback to GT type with gauges. I already have new cluster. I wondering what I have to do with alternator & oil pressure to change from lights to actual gauges? Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to M&M You'll need to change to GT specific (or '66, see below) oil and water senders, as the standard cluster has 'idiot lights'. The GT cluster also has a 140 MPH speedo , but I don't think the cable is any different. 1966 Mustangs (GT or not) had the five instrument cluster. '66 sending units will work, however the bezel is different. The bezel for '65 GTs are unique to that year

My 65 GT was so badly cut up, rigged, schmigged under dash that I took the entire harness(es) out and replaced it all with good wiring from a 66 coupe. It was the easier softer way.

Thanks. I understand that I should change sender units for oil pressure and temperature to the 1966 model. Do I need to do anything with alternator gauge versus light?
