I was on my way home with the 65 fastback , and , Cathy was behind me , following. She said that when I hit it I blew a medium amount of white smoke out of both pipes , she also said she saw a little bit of blue mixed in. When I was at a red light ( car up to temperature ) that I was blowing white smoke , no water , out of the pass side pipe only. Drivers side was dry and clear. The motor is a mildly built 289 4v , .60 over , 268h cam , carb is a 4100 autolite 1.08 venturi , stock intake manifold , stock exhaust manifold , petronix ignition , 3 row rad , 2.5" dual exhaust with H-pipe. The motor has approx 2000 miles on it since rebuild. When I parked the car and got out to look at it it was still throwing white smoke at idle in park (C4). Got Cathy to go and hit the throttle , a bit of white smoke at first then nothing until idle came back down to normal , then white smoke again , but , only on the pass side. What is causing this ? Do I have to be concerned ? Not really , I filled it up to the top , and , it seems to have found it`s own level , have done this with the coolant about 5 times since the rebuild and it always goes to the same level and stays there. The white smoke is very wispy , not , thick and bellowing. I should also mention that I have been welding the floor and , the car only moved 20 feet at a time twice a day for the past seven days. Just in and out of the garage. I know this is not good for it , but , I have been so busy , and , no seats in the car. ALEX , Can I assume that by your response , I should not sweat it at this time ? I figure that if I take the car for a 10 - 15 mile highway run , then check the pipe at idle , I should not have any smoke of any kind coming out.
