I now have the original steering wheel installed on my 1968 and now I am going to install a new [Custom Grant] 15" steering wheel. In looking at the parts catalog they talk about a 3 3/4" or a 4 1/8" dish. I could guess what they mean by that but can anyone en-lighten me. Thank you.

Think of it as looking down into a bowl. It's the vertical distance from the bottom to the rim.------------------ -Paul 70 Mach1 79 Ranchero GT 97 Expedition XLT 00 SVT f150 Lightning 4149 of 4966 born on: 06/26/2000 [This message has been edited by BlueMule (edited 10-16-2002).] [This message has been edited by BlueMule (edited 10-16-2002).]

Sorry beachbum, I can't stop mysel giving a totally unsolicited opinion I know the '68 steering wheel is not the prettiest in the world, but it IS possible to love them, perhaps because they are quite rare, always being swapped out for aftermarket wheels. Grant wheels, on the other hand, are just boring old, over-priced aftermarket steering wheels. Sorry sorry sorry! Don't even listen to me!

Fastback68, I can understand how you feel about keeping things original and liking the 68 steering wheel, but as hard as I try to like it and make it look good to me I can't. Just installed a new dash cluster, lens, paint etc. but that steering wheel just keep glaring at me so I installed the new Grant wheel. Guess different ideas is what makes the world go round. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Any interest in finding your original wheel a new home? I am looking for a black one, in decent shape.

Sorry I took so long to answer but have been away from home for over two weeks. Went to the mountains of North Carolina to see the fall colors then to Atlanta for a few days........Thanks for the interest in the 1968 steering wheel but am going to keep it in case I ever want to go back original. It's really not in good shape and it's blue, so would not helped you much anyway. And by the way, someone mentioned about the honker on the Grant wheel. I did get it to work but what a bitch to get it to work, the installation kit has a lot to be desired.

If gets even more fun if you get fancy. http://www.moparstyle.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4156 About 8 posts down on the topic linked above is a custom horn button I made for a Grant wheel in my 56 F-100. I would perfer to link the pics directly, but Angelfire blocks them.

Hell-Fish----Checked out your wheel and you really did a nice job and it looks super. I really like the old Ford emblem.

Thanks, It wasn't as hard as I had thought it would be. I used a center piece from an old hub cap. The biggest problem is making sure the contacts don't touch till you want them to.
