Sorry to post this here - I guess I'm too cheap with my phone!
As per the instructions on Kevin Marti's website, I sent an e-mail saying I need a new VIN tag and data plate. He wrote back telling me these things cannot be handled by e-mail, and I have to call. I wrote back and explained that since I would be making an international call, could he provide me with the kind of info, proof of ownership, etc. that he'd be looking for, so I could be prepared.
That was a while back and no answer yet. Has anyone done this before? What exactly do you think Kevin wants to talk about that can't be explained by e-mail??
Thanks,
Simon

I dealt with them awhile back , and , will never do it again. I needed a new data tag for my 65 , have the old original one , but , it is in rough shape . Sent him a rubbing of it via snail mail , waited 1 month heard nothiong. they said it never arrived , no problem ( blame the post office ). I then scanned the door tag and emailed it , 2 weeks later got a email requesting payment , I called them and gave them my credit card number. 1 month later still nothing , called them back , they did not know who I was , said I needed to resend scan of door tag , and , credit card number. To make a long story short , this happened 4 times , resending credit card number and scan. They finally said that they mailed it out. I waited 41 days and still no door tag , called them back , had to once again explain who I was( they had already taken money off of my credit card ) they said they would do another one for me and get it to me A.S.A.P. 10 days later it arrived. Their work is good , and , they really know what they are doing , but , there people skills suck. I was made to feel like I should be happy that they would even deal with me , I find kevin to be very arrogant , and , lacking any people skills what so ever. Be aware that you could be in for a very long and frustrating relationship with this outfit. good luck.

JOHN

Possibly the data plate could be done by E mail, but not a vin tag. He wants proof of ownership ie: copy of title or whatever you have in Islands. A rubbing of one of the stamped vin#'s on the aprons, possibly a close up photo of same, and possibly a pic of the orig vin, if you stilll have it. He is a cautious person and a professional who covers all bases. Replicating a vin tag is serious business. I assume that you are talking about the W/s vin tag. I met both Kevin and his wife and found them to be very nice folks. Have also talked to them on phone when ordering a printout on a 68 Cv. Hope it works out.

All's well I did wait about ten days, so I guess Kevin just doesn't check his e-mail that often. Today, this popped into my in-tray ...
"We have to have a clear photo of the VIN and a copy of a legal document such
as the registration. A paper will be faxed to you that you must fill out and
sign and mail back along with the other documentation."
