Ever since under my hood has been "restored" and the car was put into use again, I have noticed small corrosion spots near the battery. I didn't give it much thought because a new inner fender and battery tray were on the way. After I welded in the new tray and fender, It came back like a disease. And it is just getting worse. All around the battery is corrosion. some has even got on my chrome valve cover and took some chrome off. I have no idea what to do. It is an exide battery about a year old. And I have refilled it with water one time about two weeks ago when I noticed the corrosion was so bad. Please help...it is "spreading" all over my inner fender and battery tray not to mention how horrid it looks for any shows ------------------ 1967 Mustang coupe originally a c-code 289 with a c-4 tranny, I added holley 600cfm 4bbl, edelbrock performer intake manifold, hooker competition headers, and dual 3 chamber flowmaster exhaust exterior is acapulco blue with black vinyl top interior is stock with a kenwood cd player goal is to have a streetable muscle car that can run with a late model cobra mustang

You can also neutralize the acid with baking soda and water, then rinse off the mixture so it doesn't dry leaving a white residue. the acid will eat your metal away not just ruin the finish.

Invest in a sealed battery. The battery is venting and spitting acid.
