New bearings, carrier, etc. with professional rebuilt and checking the gears for third member = $400.00 (yeah, I know, it's expensive - but, at least, I get to keep what little hair I have left). My time to install the third member = 2.5 hours (I know it took a little longer than necessary - but, with this cold I'm fighting and stopping to clean up the mess afterwards..). Ok here it comes Accelerating to, and maintaining, 80 m.p.h. on the interstate with a "smooth as silk ride" and no hmmmmmmmmm coming out of the rear end = priceless (I just can't stop grinning)! ------------------ Jim

I'm glad that my "third member" is still in great shape. That is one hell of an expensive rebuild! I didn't want to go the drug route. One thing I neglected to say was the $400.00 is the cost breakdown for that one item out of the six million dollars. In other words, a "bionic" third member. And with that pinion shaft "stiffened up" now it should never break under hard *ahem* acceleration. Oh so close to "the shop". ------------------ Jim 68 Mustang Coupe...My Show Car. Zonie, 4 bills isn't bad. I got that much in mine and I rebuilt it myself. by the time you consider the cost of gears, bearings, aluminum pinion support, spool, shims, gasket, Yoke, etc..etc 4 bills is cheap, to be honest I have about $600.00 in mine. Ain't it great to have smooth running gears though Jerry
