Changed my spark plugs the other day and noticed the plugs I removed had a reddish tint to them.

Is this a timing issue? The engine had been rebuilt with a slightly bigger cam, and I've noticed some pinging on acceleration.

A reddish tint is entirely normal, it is due to the additives in your gasoline.....

Pinging is bad. Reduce timing or buy higher octane fuel before you bust a piston.
