The engine is out of my '65 coop. Do I want to add the tall '66 mounts to aid in the fit of headers?

I don't believe its a height issue, rather that the early mounts use space behind the shock tower that is not used when the '66 stamped frame brackets and saddle-style motor mounts are used. I believe 2 tubes on my Hookers pass by the motor mount closely and hence may not work with early cast frame brackets and motor mounts. If you're buying new motor mounts the saddle style are stronger and support more torque and hp. If you decide to convert use '66 frame brackets and Lakewood Muscle motor mounts. Note: you can use '67-'70 frame brackets but the upper outermost bolt hole needs relocaton on the '67-'70 frame brackets. To modify these, weld heavy 3/8" washers on the front and back sides of the frame bracket in the relocated position (corner of the bracket) then drill out the washer hole in the proper spot on the frame bracket. I can supply mod pictures if you like...
